Tata companies in the UK celebrate Founder's Day
On March 3, 2013, a number of employees from the Tata group’s 19 companies in the UK travelled to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, close to London, to mark Founder’s Day – a celebration of the birth of Tata goup's Founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.
Visitors marked the 174th anniversary of the Founder with a short service at the Tata family mausoleum to remember the life of Jamsetji Tata, a visionary entrepreneur, committed philanthropist and avowed nationalist, who laid the foundation for what would grow to become the Tata group in 1868. Tata group in the UK now employs over 50,000 people across 40 towns and cities.
Founder’s Day represents an opportunity for the Tata group to engage employees with Tata values, and in particular, the responsibility which the Tata group takes across all those communities in which it operates. Therefore, to coincide with the event, the company's new Chairman, Cyrus Mistry introduced a new publication – The Tata Way. The Tata Way is designed to enable all employees to appreciate the many elements that have made the Tata organisation what it is today, including their commitment to fulfilling societal responsibilities, their steadfast allegiance to ethical practices, their emphasis on excellence and innovation in business and the group’s remarkable record of growth and leadership across those industries and countries in which they operate.
