Celebrating innovation at the Tata InnoVista UK regional finals 2013
Tata InnoVista is the Tata group's internal enterprise competition. Now in its eighth year, it has grown to become an annual group-wide programme which sees Tata employees from around the world present their latest innovations to a panel of judges in the hope of walking away with prestigious awards for their endeavours.
On February 25, 2013, the UK regional finals took place at the Park Plaza Riverbank in London. Two hundred and fifty Tata executives and stakeholders attended to listen to pitches from Tata Steel Europe, Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Global Beverages.
Innovations from Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Steel Europe caught the judges’ attention and those teams have now been invited to the global final which will take place in Mumbai in April.
Tata continually strives to deliver breakthrough products and services, which makes the spirit of innovation critical to the success of the business. Anwar Hasan, director of Tata Limited, said the competition provided an important way to “showcase the innovation within the group and to encourage people to think outside the box”.
These sentiments were supported by the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who said innovation was “absolutely vital” to the future success of the UK economy. He went on to commend Tata for the contribution it had made to the UK and praised the company for the Dare to Try award, which celebrates those that got it wrong, as it is through this process of learning that many of the great innovations were born.
